Five-Star Reviews

An unforgettable, beautifully written 5-star read.”
“This book completely swept me away. The Ashes Know Her Name is far more than a thriller—it’s an emotional journey through grief, survival, love, and redemption. From the very first chapter, I was hooked by Ana’s heartbreaking story and couldn’t stop turning pages.

For anyone who's related to or just heartbroken over the tragedies of the Holocaust, Oct 7th, or the Lahaina fires, this story will bring out all your emotions as Ana (Ziva) lives through these recent events. Engaging, dramatic and humourous at times as a love story lies beneath the surface, the blend of local Maui pigon and Yiddish are not to be missed.

The Ashes Know Her Name gripped me from the very first page and didn’t let go. Denise Nussbaum weaves a story that is both emotionally raw and cinematically intense. As someone who loves deeply layered characters and global storytelling, this book hit every note for me.
This is more than a suspense novel. It’s about identity, the long shadow of grief, and the power of love in the face of unthinkable danger. I found myself breathless, hopeful, and deeply moved.
Denise Nussbaum is a powerful new voice, and I can’t wait to see what she writes next.

Ana isn’t just running from danger she’s running toward healing. The story balances pain and hope beautifully. It’s dark at times, but that makes the lighter moments shine even more. I closed the book feeling changed.

I enjoyed the book; it takes you on a journey and introduces you to characters that become friends, showing the resilience of the human spirit. For me, a book needs to draw me into the story, and this 1 did when the book was done, and the last page was read, the book was closed, and I missed the new friends I met.

The Ashes Know Her Name is a new novel by Denise Nussbaum. I thought that the book was an interesting thriller. The book could be taken from the current pages of a newspaper. Terrorists killed Ana's cousin and took her mother. Several decades later, Ana grew up in Hawaii during the Lahaina wildfires. The rest of the story is a wild ride, and I was not sure if anyone would die
